WELCOME TO THE REMNANT
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord.
You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.”
-1 Peter 3:3-6
“Daughters of Promise” is a phrase that has been with me for a few years now. When it first came to mind, I primarily liked the way it rolled off the tongue but over time it has taken new depth of meaning in my life. It is the verse above, in 1 Peter 3, that fully embodies what it means to me and maybe to you too. The verse tells us that if we keep conduct and seek out the Lord’s paths as the holy women of the past did, then we are Sarah’s daughters, part of the chosen family.
What is a Daughter of Promise?
But what is so remarkable about the remnant of women who are living this way today, is that - for a good portion of us - there was no one there to teach us these ways... and that’s where the promise kicks in. I have seen such transformation in my heart over the years and I can take no credit for it. The work that the Lord has done in me to groom and prepare me for Himself, is not anything I deserved or earned. It is a result of an ancient promise; a promise where the Father gifted a people to the Son and the Son gave His life that such people would be His.
I was promised to Him, I was purchased with His blood, and with every day that passes He is outworking that promise in me, to draw me closer to Himself. He is worthy of me, everything I have and everything I am. I have invited Him to take all of me and He will the rest. He will complete the work He has begun in you, in me, in all of His bride, all we have to do is say yes.
